History of Yamaguchi Gakuen

1962   ECC Foreign Language Institute was founded in Sumiyoshi-ku, Osaka
1970   ECC English Speech Competition for the Mayor of Honolulu Cup was held
1971 May All Japan Youth English Speech Competition for the Mayor of Honolulu Cup was held
October ECC Institute for Education Research opened
1975 February Japan-Zambia Friendship Association was established
1983 November Education Corporation Yamaguchi Gakuen was approved
1984 February Education Corporation Yamaguchi Gakuen International College of Foreign Studies (currently ECC International College of Foreign Studies) was founded
1986   ECC Computer College Osaka was established with the mission to train professionals to meet the needs of an advanced information society
1987年 July ECC Business College was founded
1989年 April ECC Commuter College Osaka introduced the Case Method developed by Harvard Business School (via licence), the first for a professional training college. ECC Computer College Osaka’s new building was completed. Started a partnership programme with the Department of Business and Economics of Kindai Junior College’s Faculty of Correspondence Study, making it possible to study across both institutions.
1992 April New building of ECC International College of Foreign Studies was completed
1993 March ECC Institute for University Transfer was established
1994 April The partnership programme with Kindai was expanded, linking this time with their University’s Department of Law under the Faculty of Correspondence Study, making it possible to study across both institutions
1995 December ECC Careers Information Centre was opened to respond to all recruitment needs
1996 April A partnership programme was started with Sanno University and Sanno College’s correspondence courses, making it possible to study across both institutions
1997年 April ECC Computer College Osaka becomes Education Corporation Yamaguchi Gakuen ECC College of Computer & Multimedia (professional training college approved by the Osaka Prefectural Government)
1999 April ECC Business College became ECC College Group
2001 April The Volunteer Centre was set up at ECC International College of Foreign Studies to strengthen our community service activities
2003 April ECC College Group’s ECC Artist College Osaka became ECC Artist College (professional training college approved by the Osaka Prefectural Government)
2004 March ECC Artist College’s second building opened
April ECC Community Service Centre was established by combining the ECC International College of Foreign Studies’s Volunteer Centre and the Education Corporation Yamaguchi Gakuen’s two colleges, ECC College of Computer & Multimedia and ECC Artist College
2005 March ECC College of Computer & Multimedia’s third building was completed ECC International College of Foreign Studies’ new building was completed in Nakazaki-cho, Umeda, Osaka, and the college relocated there
April It became possible to take optional classes at ECC’s other colleges (ECC International College of Foreign Studies, ECC College of Computer & Multimedia and ECC Artist College) run by Yamaguchi Gakuen, broadening the opportunities for students with additional choices from highly specialised curriculums
2006 April A new Department of Beauty was set up at ECC Artist College for students aiming for a national qualification as a beautician (full time, 2 year course, approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare)
2008 April A new correspondence course for the Department of Beauty was set up at ECC Artist College for students aiming for a national qualification as a beautician (correspondence, 3 year course, approved by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare)
2014 February Courses from the Department of Airline and the Department of Hotel & Tourism at ECC International College of Foreign Studies, the Department of High-level Information Processing Study at ECC College of Computer & Multimedia, the Department of Total Beauty, the Department of Artist, and the Department of Beauty at ECC Artist College were all approved as Professional Post-secondary Courses by the Ministry of Education and Culture
2015 February Courses from the Department of Multimedia Study at ECC College of Computer & Multimedia were approved as Professional Post-secondary Courses by the Ministry of Education and Culture
2016 February Courses from the Department of Children’s Education Study at ECC International College of Foreign Studies, and the Department of Multimedia at ECC College of Computer & Multimedia were approved as Professional Post-secondary Courses by the Ministry of Education and Culture
April ECC Artist College changed its name to ECC College of Beauty & Style
